Don’t Fail to Ask Him

“Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’” (Mark 10:46-47, NKJV Bible)

We read here that Bartimaeus was one who begged for sustenance, which was normal during that era. If that was what he did, possibly on a regular and daily basis, what should hinder him from begging for one of the most important things of his life? What should hinder him from making sure that the Lord heard him? Likewise, what should hinder you and I from passionately pursuing the Lord? Some of us will pick up the phone and call relatives or a friend and tell them about the problem before we bow our heads and tell the Lord all about it.

People may repeat your problems; they may take that very trust that you placed in them and reveal your problem, and in some cases, turn and use it against you. Jesus will never, ever do that to you. Some of us need to have our eyes opened about this truth. Flesh is subject to fail you. How can anything that is temporal or temporary have any long-lasting effect? But one thing you should know, not only are your secrets safe with Jesus, He will never leave or abandon you. Jesus can do anything but fail. The Bible says we have not because we do not ask. So please don’t fail to ask Him, because He alone is faithful, fully trustworthy, full of mercy, grace and power.
