I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. (2 Kings 20:3)
Upon hearing the word of God to prepare his house to die, Hezekiah quickly made a position. He began to put God in remembrance of some of the good things that he had done, some of the faithful duties that he had performed. I envision Hezekiah saying O LORD, remember now God, I was not always messed up. Don’t you remember when I tore down the altars of Baal, and made the people began to worship you again. I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight.
I can only pray that some of us have some faithfulness in our past that we can call to God’s attention saying remember now. O LORD remember now when you first appointed me and called me how excited I was about heeding to your every word. O LORD remember now when my faith was so full and I was so on fire for you that I spent many hours praying and reading my bible, and walking in truth. Can you say, when you need your marriage restored, O LORD remember now, when I was so excited about my wife that I loved her as you instructed me, to love her as Christ loves the church, and I would do anything for her. When your teenager or young adult seems to be running off of a cliff in life and you can’t seem to reach them. Can you say O LORD remember now when you gave me that child that I prayed for and I thanked you and promised to raise them in the fear and admonition of you, and I did my best, but they are now acting like they don’t even know you. Father, please help my child return them back to you. Bring them out of the influences of the world. You said in your word to train up a child in the way that they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Thank you, that your word is true and every man a liar. I thank you that you will perform all of your word. When you need a quick response from the Lord, you are out of a job, your finances are a wreck, the bills are starting to pile up and you don’t know from where your next meal will come, can you say O LORD remember now? Remember, Father, when my finances were on point, I was faithful in giving to your work. And LORD remember now how when you saved me and I was so excited about your love and salvation that I told everyone about you, and invited many to church, and they too received your grace.
The bible says Prophet Isaiah hadn’t reached the middle court before God responded and gave to Hezekiah 15 more years to live. It’s important to be in a position to put God in remembrance of our faithfulness when needed. Therefore, friends, I admonish you today, if you don’t have any O LORD remember now(s), please stop and take the time to examine your relationship with Christ and began to meditate on His goodness and loving-kindness toward you. Be ye also ready. (Mat 24:44a)
